We've given this some thought and come up with a short list of things that would be of great help as we move forward into the next stage of our lives together. We are moving to Seattle from Olympia the month after the wedding, probably to a smaller apartment, so space will be limited.
We decided to use Amazon as our gift registry, but you shouldn't feel like you need to actually use Amazon to purchase the item on the list. The Amazon registry is helpful because it lets those who purchase an item (whether from Amazon or elsewhere) mark that item as purchased on the registry. Most of the items on the list simply indicate the basic guidelines of what we're looking for. "Corningware Simplelite 2-1/2 quart with glass lid," means we're interested in a square casserole dish with a glass lid. We just ask that if you buy one of the items, you visit the registry and check it off the list by following the "buying this elsewhere?" link. That way others can see what's been bought. We've added comments alongside some items to clarify what we're looking for, or to indicate exceptions.
Here is the link for our wedding registry on Amazon:

We ask that if beyond the above list you wish to contribute further, please consider highly packable and convenient gift cards from Target or Ikea.
Happy Summer!
We intend to use this blog to keep our friends and family in the loop as we prepare to tie the knot. Check back semi-frequently. We'll add info slowly but surely.

Hotels We Recommend in Olympia
For those of you who will be staying a few nights, hotel accommodations are not hard to come by in Olympia. We have all the usual suspects, plus some local color. We'll recommend three that are nice, close to the wedding and reception sites, and affordable.
1) Capitol Plaza Hotel.
Literally right across the street from the Woman's Club, this one's also the least expensive.
2) The Governor Hotel
Great view of the state capitol and only a few blocks from the Woman's Club, but a bit more spendy.
621 South Capitol Way Olympia, WA 98501
360-352-7700

3) The Phoenix Inn
Very nice building, super-close to the Olympia Farmers Market.
415 Capitol Way N. Olympia, WA 98501
